Local business owners have an opportunity to partner with their local libraries for free. The Suburban Library Cooperative (SLC) is launching its new GO LIBRARY CARD, this is a no-fee discount program which offers thousands of library cardholders great discounts. The program is designed to be simple. Library members can present their library card at any participating business to get a discount or other value offer.
The Suburban Library Cooperative will take care of all marketing, promotion and organization in order to introduce the business to all of its members at no cost. All the business owner needs to offer is a discount to be publicized. The Suburban Library Cooperative and SLC member libraries will promote participating businesses in many ways:
- Inclusion in the GoLibraryCard brochure which lists participating businesses distributed throughout the participating member libraries
- Recognition and promotion through participating member libraries’ social media channels and websites
- Exposure via a new GoLibraryCard web page devoted exclusively to the program
- Information posted in libraries
The Suburban Library Cooperative’s 21 local libraries includes more than (510,000) library membership cardholders which covers ALL Macomb County libraries as well as Harper Woods Library and the Troy Public Library. Participating libraries can be found by visiting libcoop.net/wordpress/member-library-directory
SLC is currently signing up businesses/restaurants/merchants who wish to offer discounts to patrons. Business owners who want to offer discounts should go to golibrarycard.org and click on the “add your business” tab to submit a business. SLC reviews the requests, and, if approved, will send a window decal at no charge for businesses to use to indicate their participation. SLC will then promote and market the discount to all cardholders.
The goal of the program is to promote area businesses that agree to provide a discount of their choosing to SLC member library patrons who show their library card.
