Jaime Spriet, Vice President of Business Development, Health Alliance Plan was named the 2011 ATHENA Award recipient today at a luncheon at Warren’s Ukrainian Cultural Center.  The award, which recognizes individuals that actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential, was hosted by the Macomb Foundation, a sister organization of the Macomb County Chamber.

Honored for her efforts as a leader for bringing affordable insurance to businesses of 1-20,000 employees in Michigan; the Health Alliance Plan Power Package is now offered to 17 local chambers—offering affordable health care and ancillary insurance coverage to over 17,000 businesses in our community. Ms. Spriet is also known as a strong advocate for the promotion of women into executive positions and higher education. She is a champion for working with the community, especially women. She is a mentor and member for InForum.  InForum is an organization committed to the development of young business women in southeast Michigan.  She devotes her time to the American Heart Walk, Henry Ford Health System Ophthalmology Council, the Juvenile Diabetes Society, and MINDS (an awareness program that aims at educating young people about mental illness).

 

Mistress of Ceremonies Erin Nicole, WXYZ Consumer Reporter, along with Guest Speaker Susy Avery, Executive Director, State of Michigan Women’s Commission, joined in celebrating the achievements of 8 amazing women who were nominated for the 2011 ATHENA Award.  Previous ATHENA honorees served as the selection committee.

The Macomb Foundation has presented this award in Macomb County exclusively since 1999 and has recognized twelve area individuals. The Macomb Foundation works closely with business, civic and non-profit organizations to explore, plan and implement programs designed to broaden the role Macomb County plays in Michigan’s overall economy. It also supports many of the county’s community-based organizations through a network of program sharing and support.
