Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Macomb County Chamber has worked tirelessly to provide resources, keep you informed, support and advocate for our business memberships.
Our efforts include:
- 10 Virtual Chamber networking events.
- 5 Advocacy events with local legislators and industry experts.
- Collaborations with U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Chamber, Detroit Regional Chamber and the Michigan Bankers Association.
- Working side-by-side with our sister Chambers throughout Macomb County on Macomb is Open and Restaurant Campaign.
- Constant updating of our COVID-19 Resource pages,
- Creating Return to Work webpage to provide resources and tools so you can safely resume your business operations.
- Actively participated in the statewide Traditional Office Setting Advisory Workgroup creating a Return to Work Template being proposed to the Governor.
As of Monday afternoon, Governor Whitmer announced the State of Michigan has been moved into Phase 4 of the MI Safe Start Plan and rescinded the Stay-At-Home order. This has allowed many sectors of Michigan’s economy to re-open within the coming days. We are all grateful to be returning to work, however we know this will not be business as usual. We must figure out how to do business in this new reality.
We will continue to work and provide resources and communications on this new reality. The first local effort is critical to many small businesses that are looking to re-open with PPE needs.
To help local businesses as they prepare to re-open or resume full operations, Macomb County announced today that it will provide Back-to-Business kits for businesses of all sizes. These kits will include reusable face coverings, face shields, gloves, a no-touch thermometer and other materials to help protect employees and customers from the highly contagious coronavirus.
To request PPE, please visit MacombGov.org and click on the back to business PPE icon. Those requesting a kit will receive a confirmation email with details about their assigned time frame for a no-touch pick-up at the county warehouse located near Hall Road in Clinton Township. “Pick-up appointments will begin as soon as Monday, June 8th” said Vicky Rad, the Director of Macomb County Planning and Economic Development.
The program will be administered through the business development unit of the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development with support from Macomb County Emergency Management. Up to $5 million worth of materials will be distributed. When possible, supplies purchased for the Back-to-Business kits will be locally sourced.
The funding for the program comes from an allocation of $152.5 million received by the County through the Federal CARES Act and the Coronavirus Relief Fund. Remaining funds will be used to recover expenses incurred by the county for response activities, to provide support to people at higher risk for exposure to the virus, to offer assistance to those facing financial distress caused by the pandemic, to aid local municipalities and other economic recovery programs.
