A Message from the President & CEO
The Macomb County Chamber was proud to represent our members once again on Mackinac Island during the recent Mackinac Policy Conference, which brings together Michigan’s business, government and community leaders to discuss the issues shaping our state’s future.
One of the most significant announcements for Macomb County came when Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation providing $152 million for runway and infrastructure improvements at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The funding represents another major step in securing the base’s long-term future as one of Michigan’s most important military and economic assets. Selfridge contributes approximately $850 million annually to Michigan’s economy and supports thousands of jobs throughout our region.
The Chamber has long advocated for Selfridge and for the vital role it plays in Macomb County’s economy and in our national defense. The strong bipartisan support for Selfridge from state and federal leaders underscores its importance and the opportunities it will create for future generations.
We were also proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Golden Ticket Reception at Yankee Rebel Tavern during the conference. Hosted in partnership with Powering Michigan’s Future and WJR, the event welcomed more than 500 attendees for an evening of networking and conversation with leaders and policymakers from across the state. Gatherings like these create valuable opportunities to elevate Macomb County’s voice, strengthen relationships and advance priorities that support our business community.
As we reflect on another successful Mackinac Policy Conference, I am encouraged by the collaboration, leadership and commitment to Michigan’s future on display throughout the week. The Macomb County Chamber will continue working to ensure our county remains at the center of these conversations and is positioned to capitalize on the opportunities ahead.
Thank you for your continued membership and support.
