Macomb Hall of Fame Celebrates 25 Years of Honoring Community Leaders
The Macomb Foundation celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Macomb Hall of Fame on Aug. 19, honoring five individuals and families whose leadership, accomplishments, and service have left a lasting impact on Macomb County. The annual awards ceremony was held at The Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township.
The 2026 inductees represent a wide range of contributions to the county, spanning business, healthcare, public service, defense, hospitality and community involvement.
This year’s honorees included:
- Valde Garcia, Congressional and Industry Liaison for the U.S. Army, whose career has included service in the Michigan Legislature and 30 years in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and Michigan National Guard.
- Dr. Tatjana Savich, Founder and CEO of Quality Care Rehab & Autism Center, Divinity Home Care, and Angelica’s Place of Romeo, who employs more than 130 people through her three Macomb County healthcare organizations.
- Mary Safie, President and Owner of Safie Specialty Foods Company, who has grown her family’s Chesterfield-based business into an internationally recognized brand producing more than 10 million pounds of pickled vegetables annually.
- James LaHood and Domenic Belcastro, Co-Owners of The Palazzo Grande Banquet & Event Center, recognized for their contributions to Macomb County’s hospitality industry, business community, and local charitable organizations.
- The Sorrentino Family, whose three generations of leadership through ICON Building & Development and the Sorrentino Companies have contributed to construction, economic development, philanthropy, and community service throughout the region.
Since its inception in 2000, the Macomb Hall of Fame has recognized more than 120 leaders, families, and organizations for their contributions to Macomb County. Proceeds from the event support the Macomb Foundation and its work to strengthen Macomb County through community-driven events and partnerships.
