Macomb County Chamber wins 2012 Outstanding Chamber of Commerce Award

The Macomb County Chamber has been chosen as the 2012 Outstanding Chamber of the Year by the Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals (MACP), an industry association for almost 300 chambers in Michigan.

The Outstanding Chamber of the Year Award recognizes organization excellence in chambers of commerce and provides a unique benchmarking opportunity to assess a chamber’s strengths. The award is based on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce accreditation process for local chambers and highlights accomplishments in the areas of leadership/governance, finance, advocacy and membership development.

“Among the Macomb County Chamber’s noted achievements were its leadership in state and local policy issues, its targeted communications strategy and its ability to manage financial and human resources to maximize return on its investment,” said Bob Thomas, director for the Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals.

“We are thrilled and honored to receive this recognition,” said Grace Shore, CEO of the Macomb County Chamber.

Shore also received the Michigan Chamber Professional Award, which recognizes individual commitment to professional development and benchmarks key performance areas for chamber professional excellence.

“Grace Shore is an example for other chamber professionals to follow,” said Thomas. “Her career longevity and continued service to chambers of commerce make her a mentor to both new and established chamber leaders alike.”

The Outstanding Chamber of Commerce Award is presented to one chamber of commerce in each of three membership categories (small, mid-size and large chambers of commerce). The Macomb County Chamber’s award was in the mid-sized category. Applications are judged by members of other Midwest/Great Lakes CCE organizations.
