Press Conference on Selfridge A-10 Program

The Macomb County Chamber stands with community and government leaders, Selfridge Base Community Council, and Macomb County Executive Office in the effort to save the A-10 program at Selfridge.  The Macomb County Chamber of Commerce, in the strongest possible terms, urges reconsideration of the proposed cuts at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.  Eliminating the 107th Fighter Squadron would be harmful to our community, our state, and our nation.

The Chamber is concerned that if the 107th Fighter Squadron is eliminated, it would lead to the potential closure of Selfridge during the next round of BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) Commission cuts.  Our citizens and community leaders have fought hard during the last two rounds of base closures to keep Selfridge as an active base.  Just the thought of a base closure possibility would send rippling effects across the landscape of Macomb County already hard hit by the shifts in the automotive industry.
